St. Thomas Syro Malabar Mission of San Antonio was established in Year 2005 with the sole purpose of building a Syro Malabar Catholic church here in San Antonio. Syro Malabar rite is an eastern catholic church under communion with the Holy Catholic Church. The church is considered one of the first churches in the whole world and can trace its roots to St.Thomas the Apostle who was one of the 12 disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is also one of largest of the 22 Eastern Catholic churches.
Currently the Syro Malabar mass is conducted at St.Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive, San Antonio, TX 78228. They also have the St Luke Catholic school giving catholic education from PK - 8th grade. St Luke Church has been very helpful in allowing us to conduct the Syro Malabar mass every sunday at 6:00 PM in Malayalam.
Our priest's name is Fr George.C.George and he is a Chaplain at the United States Airforce and is based in San Antonio.
With the goal of building a church for our community, the parish members which consits of around 30 families have set up a bank account and have bought some land near the Ingram mall, San Antonio. With our Lord's grace and help we should be able to build a church here with traditional syro malabar architecture and server the syro malabar catholic community here in San Antonio.
